Case Study

ROCK Executive Development. Brand, identity and website.

A premium leadership coaching practice needed a brand, identity and website as serious as the work it delivers. Here is how I built it.

ROCK Executive Development website design and brand identity by Stuart Gould Design

A serious practice needed a serious presence.

ROCK Executive Development is led by Paul Shaw, a leadership and executive coach with more than a decade working at senior levels within financial services, including executive development, CEO succession planning and leadership coaching across NatWest Group.

Alongside a network of experienced coaches and specialist contributors, ROCK delivers evidence-based leadership programmes and executive coaching for senior leaders, organisations and coaching communities.

Its flagship programme, Solstice Executive Evolution, is a 12-month leadership journey combining nature-based retreats, executive coaching, cohort learning and peer partnership. The brand and website needed to communicate that difference immediately.

The brief was about more than making things look good.

ROCK arrived with a clear vision for the practice but no developed visual identity. Everything needed to be created from the ground up, then applied consistently across every touchpoint.

The challenge.

The executive coaching market is crowded with brands that look and sound interchangeable. Generic stock photography, vague promises and overused leadership language dominate the space.

ROCK's work is different. It is immersive, evidence-led, nature-connected and intentionally transformational in its approach. The identity needed to reflect that without becoming corporate, predictable or clichéd.

The objectives.

Create a distinctive visual identity that felt credible, elevated and confident. Extend the brand consistently into print and digital touchpoints. Build a website that communicated depth and trust to a senior audience. Develop an immersive design language that separated ROCK from conventional coaching brands.
Nature-led leadership development visual direction

Not corporate. Not clichéd. Immersive.

The visual direction uses dark, grounded colours, confident typography and natural imagery to communicate reflection, challenge and depth.

Building the brand from the inside out.

The identity was created before the website, giving the project a stronger foundation and ensuring every page, card, section and printed item felt part of the same system.

Logo and identity.

The logo needed to work within a bold, dark visual system while remaining clean, adaptable and recognisable across both digital and print applications.

The final identity feels grounded and authoritative, reflecting the evidence-based and nature-connected character of the practice without relying on the generic visual clichés common across the coaching market.

Print and physical touchpoints.

Once the identity was established, it was carried into print collateral including business card design and presentation materials.

For a leadership practice operating within C-suite environments, physical brand touchpoints still matter. A business card handed to a senior leader should feel consistent with the website they later visit.

A website designed to qualify interest, not just explain.

The website needed to inform, but it also needed to filter. The right visitors should quickly understand the level of the offer, the depth of the methodology and the kind of leadership work ROCK delivers.

Design language.

The website carries the same visual language throughout: dark, immersive backgrounds, strong typography, restrained colour and photography connected to the Solstice programme.

Locations including woodland, waterfalls, open sky and dramatic landscapes were used deliberately. Before a visitor reads a line of copy, the visual direction already communicates that this is not another hotel conference room workshop.

Copy for a sceptical audience.

The target audience includes CEOs, senior directors, executive teams and leadership professionals. They have seen enough generic leadership messaging to dismiss it almost instantly.

The copy was written to acknowledge that reality directly. Rather than leaning on vague transformation language, the messaging focuses on specificity, evidence and clarity.

Programme pages with substance.

The Solstice Executive Evolution page was designed to do serious work, not simply act as a short overview page.

Solstice Executive Evolution.

The page explains who the programme is for, how the 12-month structure works, why it differs from traditional leadership development and what outcomes leaders and organisations can expect.

For a significant long-term leadership investment, this level of detail matters. Senior decision-makers expect substance before commitment, and the website was structured to provide it.

Built for future growth.

The website launched with two fully developed programme sections: Solstice Executive Evolution and Leadership Team Development.

A third programme, FULL MOON Executive Coach Development, was included at register-interest stage while the offer continued to evolve. This allowed the website to launch cohesively without publishing incomplete programme content.

The result. A complete brand presence.

The finished project delivered a complete identity system spanning logo, print and digital.

ROCK now has a brand and website that immediately communicates the depth, seriousness and distinctiveness of its work to an audience that already understands the leadership development space and expects substance from the organisations operating within it.

The consistency across every touchpoint, from business card to browser, creates a unified and credible experience that positions ROCK clearly above the generic executive coaching market it operates within.
